Back-to-School Guide

Welcome

Welcome and welcome back! We are very much looking forward to seeing you in person on August 3rd. We are excited for the new school year, and to continue the traditions that make PVHS "the place to be."

Please join us as we continue to embrace our culture of PRIDE. We will continue to emphasize prompt attendance, ID compliance, dress code compliance, and academic commitment. Regular and timely attendance is a major contributing factor to academic success, and wearing your ID contributes to our school safety. Please be here on time, ready to learn. Thank you in advance, and remember, it’s always a great day to be a Trojan!

Whether you are a returning Trojan, or a new student starting at PVHS, we wish you all the best as you start a new school year! The 2023-24 school year begins on Thursday, August 3rd. All students will report to a designated area to pick up their official schedule between 7:00 and 7:25 a.m. on the first day of school.

  • Seniors: Cafeteria, Upper Level
  • Juniors: Cafeteria, Lower Level
  • Sophomores: Media Center
  • Freshmen: Auditorium Lobby

Walk-Through

All students are invited to come by the main gym on Thursday, July 27th to get your student ID, pay fees, get P.E. uniforms, learn about sports and clubs, and walk the campus from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

PRIDE Camp

All incoming freshmen are invited to PRIDE Camp on Monday, July 31st from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m to get I.D. pictures taken, receive a class shirt and PRIDE Guide, walk the campus, meet new friends, and experience RED Zone 101. Freshman parents are also invited to attend a session with administration and our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the auditorium. This is a great way to get involved, meet other parents, and get your questions answered by veteran PVHS parents.

Traffic Information

Traffic on the first few days is usually a challenge, so it is a good idea to arrive early in order to avoid traffic congestion. The West Lot is the ONLY lot designated for student pick-up and drop-off, as well as student parking. It is a busy area at arrival and dismissal time. Students are encouraged to ride the bus, if they are eligible. Please do not drop off in adjacent businesses.

Student Computers

The Paradise Valley School District loans a take-home device to students in grades 7-12. There is no fee for the use of the device, but families may carry full liability for the device (Chromebook) in the same way they do for other damaged or lost school property, such as textbooks. There is an optional protection plan which may be purchased annually and provides for reduced repair and replacement costs. Purchase the protection plan via the school bookstore. Students and parents must also sign a Device User Agreement.

Athletics Information

The Athletics office number is (602) 449-7023.

Students interested in participating in sports must complete a sports packet. Check the PVHS website for more information or see our Athletic Director, Brock Heykoop, or our Athletic Assistant, Karen Barnett, with any questions.

In order to participate in district-organized athletics, each athlete and one of their parents or legal guardians must watch the PVSchools Informed Consent video either at a scheduled parent meeting or online.

This is only required once during your four years in high school. Please refer to the PVSchools Athletic Information Form for a parent/guardian signature after viewing. All athletes must complete this form prior to playing a sport. You can download the athletics form via the district website.
